The Beginning

The idea of this blog should have, I think, sprung to mind a long time ago. Since the beginning of this year I have been working on a writing project, a play in fact, which will stand as my final piece of university assessment for my Bachelor of Creative Arts, majoring in Theatre Studies All year I've been searching through books on writing, interviews with writers and website after website about storytelling, wanting to engage with other writers and learn about their experiences. Funnily enough, the entire project was inspired by an incident I followed last year through blogs, yet I never thought to use blogging in this process until now.

My plan for the blog is to record what I'm learning as I write this play, focusing on a different aspect of writing each week. Also, I hope to engage with other writers this way and generate discussion about the different topics and research.

So there we go; there's not much more to say, and so I officially pronounce Raspberry Spiders begun! Hurrah!

Oh, and just a small note on the name; undoubtedly one of my largest difficulties in creating anything is naming it. After substantial whining and ruing of the fact that I would never be able to begin this blog as I would never think of a suitable name, a friend suggested I use Raspberry Spiders (my non-alcoholic drink of choice), one of which was sitting in front of me and so I did and the tale of how my blog got its name ends!
